The aim of Youth Coaching is to support the next generation The intent of Youth Coaching is to provide personal coaching experiences that would build capacity for future generations in their chosen profession or support them in deciding what path to take. The purpose is

  • Supporting graduate students with individual coaching as they begin their careers and make their integration into employer organizations.
  • Making participants more aware of professional coaching by allowing them to experience it firsthand.
  • Increasing the quality of young professionals and indirectly shaping the future culture and professional coaching culture in the mid and long term.

A recent award winning Youth Coaching Program for young HR Professionals conducted by the ICF in partnership with a Hungarian university had great success

The program’s impact was evaluated in the context of both the wider HR profession and the personal results for coachees. As a result of the program, more than 80% of coachees indicated that they believe coaching should be a part of every learning and development program for leaders, HR students and HR professionals.

More than 70% of the coachees experienced positive change in the areas of awareness, self-esteem, self-confidence, persistence and paying attention to relationships. Two participants even attributed receiving job opportunities as an effect of the coaching process. The uniqueness of this initiative is that it not only set future leaders up for success, but it also planted the seeds for coaching to have a greater reach in society.

UQ has conducted a similar program which also had overwhelmingly positive results.

    Steve Taylor - YOUTH COACHING

When I started working with Ben he was frustrated and un-motivated, with low confidence and a lack of direction he felt stuck and bored. This self-doubt created no desire to pursue challenges and held him back from perusing the promotion he desired at work. He knew he had more potential and wanted to break out of the everyday grind. Fast forward 6 months and ben has his mojo back and has been promoted, had a pay rise and the happiness is bubbling over to every other area of his life. Boredom is a thing of the past as he is about to compete in his first Tough Mudder, a goal he could not have imagined 12 months ago.
If you want to experience the kind of change that Ben did I welcome the opportunity to be your coach.
Steve can also offer specialised training with his program …..WEBSITE LINK to your leadership program

Here is a recent testimonial form one of my clients that I coached this year through a difficult time.

    “For Steve

In the few months he has coached me have greatly aided me to deal with the hardship of one of the most stressful years of my life, year twelve. Not only the workload but also the other stressful aspects of socialising with my peers, which has always been a difficult for me. Where I once dreaded walking into school and depressed sitting by myself, I left feeling sure of myself, confident and unafraid of opening up and putting myself out there. Steve helped me to realise my self-worth through me reaffirming my core values, of which I am not ashamed of. This helped me to walk with more confidence with the determination to stand up to my principals.

While doing year twelve I was procrastinating on homework a lot, and hating myself for doing so. Steve helped me realise that the tools I used to procrastinate with where an integral part of myself. Helping me regain some peace and calm after a stressful day at school through listening to music for hours. With this knowledge I can regulate it and not feel torn and pissed off with myself for doing it.

In the time he has coached me he has made my year twelve tolerable in both the workload the social aspects. No longer depressed or suicidal.

    Forever grateful,”

    • My Personal Journey:
    • From an early age I have had a passion for involvement in physical activity and have always pushed the limits of my own capabilities. I became very focused on training when I was around 18 and really started to drive my development. Along the way I have achieved the following personal goals:
    • Melbourne Marathon 2014 & 2016 – This was my first running event and one that taught me the importance of planning and goal setting when working towards a large event.
    • 22 Spartan races – Spartan races are an obstacle course that are conducted off road throughout Australia. Each course has obstacles along the way ranging from heavy carries to throwing spears and penalties exist for failed attempts. The distance covered, ranges from the 7km Sprint to the 42km Ultra Beast, which I am proud to say I have completed four of to this date.
    • 4 Tough Mudders- These off road obstacle courses require teams to work together to scale and overcome obstacles. At 20km long these are nothing short of tough and require a high level of teamwork, commitment and discipline to train for such an event.
    • Muay Thai – Achieving my black singlet in Muay Thai in December 2017 is one of my biggest personal achievements and took seven years of committed training to achieve. The Martial arts oath and creed: Strive to excel, Never give up, Stand your ground, Be loyal and respectful, Be humble is at the core of training and is something that I have incorporated into all other aspects of my life. This has helped me become a better martial artist and a better person. I am forever grateful to martial arts for what it has taught me and continues to teach me.
    • Integrated Leadership & Mindfulness – Having achieved such a high level of martial arts training has provided a strong understating of mindfulness. Combine this with a deep understanding of leadership I have created unique leadership training courses and interactive mindfulness sessions that build physical and mental ability.
